Akron (12-4-3) earned a first-round bye and beat Notre Dame 1-0 at home in the second round. Matthew Paiva scored the game winner in the 88th minute. Stefan Dobrijevic delivered a strike that knocked off a Notre Dame defender and was redirected into the back of the net by Paiva.
