A map included with the post on X showed that while the entirety of the Northern Plains was expected to see some impacts from the storm, some states will likely be hit by widespread major impacts. These include Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Colorado and Idaho.
On Friday at 2:16 p.m. an updated winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until Saturday at 10 a.m. for East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades.
On Friday at 1:40 p.m. a winter storm watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Saturday 4 p.m. until Friday Dec. 26, at 4 p.m. for Yosemite.
"At 2:27 p.m., a dangerous snow squall was located along a line from over East Palestine to over Coraopolis, or along a line from over East Palestine to near Franklin Park, moving east at 40 mph," according to the weather service. "Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes."
