James Ransone, who played Ziggy Sobotka in “The Wire” and a host of other HBO roles, has died. He was 46. Ransone died by suicide Friday in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner.

“I told you I have loved you 1000 times before and I know I will love you again,” Ransone’s wife Jamie McPhee wrote in an Instagram tribute Sunday. “You told me - I need to be more like you and you need to be more like me - and you were so right. Thank you for giving me the greatest gifts - you, Jack and Violet. We are forever.”
It’s hard to believe it’s been more than 25 years since Gilmore Girls first premiered, but even though so much time has passed since the show ended, the series still commands a dedicated international fan following.
The British actor was best known for his long-running starring role in the high-school based drama, “Waterloo Road.”
