Ewers was selected in the seventh round by the Dolphins in the 2025 NFL draft. He played his last three college years for the Texas Longhorns. During his final season at Texas, he passed for 3,472 yards, 31 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a 65.8 completion percentage.

Bryant also referred back to a post in which he explained his thought process. The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver wrote that he thinks about players in relation to the team they land with, and after watching "a ton of UT games," Bryant sees the Ewers-Dolphins marriage as a healthy one.
